MOLYKOTE EM-30L Grease is an NLGI Grade 1 polyalphaolefin (PAO) based lubricating grease formulated with lithium thickener and solid lubricants including PTFE and white solids. Designed for plastic components across automotive, electronics, precision equipment, audio devices, and office equipment, this grease supports plastic-plastic, metal-metal, and plastic-metal contact scenarios for industrial clients seeking consistent lubrication performance.
EM-30L grease uses a PAO synthetic base oil with a viscosity of 90 cSt at 40°C. PAO base oils provide a wider operating temperature range compared to mineral oils, along with improved oxidation resistance and lower volatility.
The grease is thickened with lithium soap (12-hydroxy lithium stearate), which provides good mechanical stability and water resistance. The lithium thickener system contributes to the grease's NLGI Grade 1 consistency, which falls within the 310-340 dmm penetration range per ASTM D217.
Solid lubricants including PTFE and white solids are incorporated into the formulation. These additives enhance load-carrying capacity and reduce friction in boundary lubrication conditions, particularly useful for plastic-on-plastic and plastic-on-metal interfaces where direct metal contact is not involved.

EM-30L grease is used in automotive plastic components including interior trim mechanisms, plastic gears, and actuator systems. Its compatibility with most engineering plastics supports long-term lubrication in temperature-fluctuating under-hood and cabin environments.
In electronic devices and precision instruments, the grease provides lubrication for plastic gears, sliding mechanisms, and small motor bearings. Its low diffusion property makes it suitable for clean environments where grease migration could contaminate sensitive components.
The grease is applied in audio device mechanisms, printer gears, copier components, and other office equipment where plastic-on-plastic contact occurs. The silicone-free formulation prevents contact failure issues in electrical connectors and switches.
Store EM-30L grease in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight and heat sources. The recommended storage temperature is between 5°C and 30°C. Containers should be kept tightly sealed when not in use to prevent contamination and moisture ingress. Standard packaging options include 1 kg cans, with larger container sizes available for volume procurement.
EM-30L grease is compatible with most common engineering plastics. Compatibility testing is recommended for specific polymer grades, particularly for applications involving elevated temperatures or extended service periods.
The grease operates within a temperature range of -45°C to 150°C. Actual performance depends on application conditions including load, speed, and duty cycle.
No, EM-30L grease does not contain silicone oil. This makes it suitable for applications where silicone contamination could cause electrical contact failure or paint adhesion issues.
Yes, the grease is formulated for use in plastic-plastic, metal-metal, and plastic-metal contact situations, providing versatility in assemblies with mixed material components.
